On our way home from eating dinner this evening we had this conversation with Lauren in the midst of our normal singing while we drive.
Lauren: (Out of the blue) I want some shoes that light.
Me: (Surprised) Oh, shoes don't have lights.
Lauren: Yes, they do!
Me: Do you have friends that have shoes that light?
Lauren: Yes, Sam.
Me: Those are boy's shoes, do you want boy's shoes?
Lauren: (Emphatically) NO! I don't want boy's shoes! I want girl shoes that light.
Bill and I just looked at each other and smiled!
This is the first of what I am sure will be many, many clothing and accessory requests from our little girl!!
We love you Lauren!!

I never dreamed Sam would be Lauren's first fashion icon! Ha ha! There's no turning back once they discover that light-up shoes exist. :) Sam has light-up shoes, but now he wants light-up shoes like Will Goans' because they have monster trucks on them! Will only had one pair and then moved on...so who knows? (By the way, we got Sam's shoes at Walmart in case you need to go shopping!) Love that Lauren!
We too have had the light up shoes conversation. Caleb had a pair a few years ago and hasn't asked for anymore. Madison had a cute pair of pink sckechers that we got at Shoe Carnival 2 yrs ago. She loved them when she had them but when they got too small and it was time to get new ones she picked out ones that didn't light up. Hers really weren't too bad though....she has asked for some princess shoes and I haven't caved on that one yet (not a fan of character shoes)!
I love it! Mackenzie has princess and tinkerbell shoes that light up...Wal-Mart, Ross, and Payless are my suggestions...you'd be surprised by how many girls shoes do light up, too! ;) While at times it is frustrating, overall I have really enjoyed Mackenzie reaching the point where she has opinions and preferences regarding her clothing. :)
