It's time to get started

Nothing like a trip to the beach to motivate you to lose weight. I have been back in the gym working out since the beginning of February. That sounds like two months worth or working out when in reality it hasn't been that long. I missed over a week when Allison had RSV and another week with Lauren's last stomach virus. I'm so glad to be able to exercise once again, but I haven't yet stopped eating all the junk food that I have been eating since being pregnant with Lauren. So, tomorrow is the day. I am embarking on a new diet. It's called the Flat Belly Diet and I like what I read about the changes it helps you make that are life-style changes, not just changes for a period of time. While the diet in theory is for 32 days, it really is about life-style changes that will continue after the 32 days are over. I was able to make those life-style changes when I did Body for Life back in late 2002 and 2003. My brother and I were both doing Body for Life and we lived together at the time so it made it easier to eat the right way. I am convinced I can do that again. However, almost 7 years and two children later, I don't know how easy it will be. But I'm determined to give it a shot!

I want to know more about this Flat Belly diet! I'm serious...I am uncomfortable in my own body these days and would love to find something do-able! Please tell me more!

Oh...and I remember when you did Body for Life...you guys were so dedicated! I know you can do it again. You go, Cindy!

I have followed your example and have been back in the gym myself for 2-3 times per week over the last 3 weeks, or so. I, too, desperately need to make lifestyle dietary changes, not just adding exercise! Maybe I'll be able follow your example on this one, too...but I've always been able to exercise better than following dietary guidelines! Will power...self control...hmmm, I need those things! :) Good luck to ya!!!

You can really tell that you have been working out, or at least I think so! I need some motivation....like Gillian from the Biggest Loser! We bought a weight bench last month but I haven't been using it regularly. Also we have an elliptical but I don't use it regularly either. A gym membership worked for me but the closest thing to us now is a Rush and I didn't like the Rush. Wish we were close to a Court South or National Fitness! The year Caleb turned 1 and Pam died I got real serious and lost 25 lbs and then 2 yrs ago I did that same thing but it was only from exercise (well I didn't eat much when Pam died due to depression so that affected it too), I really need to change my eating habits...I love sweets, bread and pasta!!! I would love to hear about the Flat Belly Diet also :)

We just booked a condo on the beach for late June and I am really wanting to get rid of my post-baby body. I want to go and have fun on the beach and not feel uncomfortable and self-conscious. Maybe we should all try to dedicate one day a week to sharing recipes, activities, or personal praises for achievements- even the small ones. Anyone else up for a "Slim-Down Saturday" post? Perhaps this would help us encourage one another.

Good Luck Cindy! I hope you are able to keep it!
