A Few Favorite Fall Memories
- As a 1st grade teacher at Beaumont Elem. we would take our kids to Poore's Pumpkin Patch in Andersonville, TN. Mr. Poore was the kindest gentleman and he would take the kids on a hayride to his pumpkin patch for the them to pick out their own pumpkin. The only restriction Mr. Poore had was that the kids had to pick a pumpkin they could carry on their own. What fun it was watching those little 1st graders try to get the biggest pumpkin they could possibly carry and then watch them get it on the bus and then down the hall and into the classroom.
- A couple of my favorite college memories were of going on hayrides in the fall with Shantih (my social club). I loved getting dressed up in warm clothes, usually a flannel shirt with long underwear shirt underneath, jeans and hiking boots. Then warming up after the hayride by a big bon fire.
- Cade's Cove Hayride (Do you get the idea that I love hayrides!)
- Hiking in the mountains when the leaves are at their peak. I love to hear the crunching of the leaves as you walk through the ones that have fallen on the ground. I also love seeing the leaves fall from the trees in a gentle breeze.

You just can't beat fall weather. I love it too!
I did not realize that you were in Shantih, too! Great club, huh?! ;)
We just went on a hayride today...have you been out to the Oakes Farm? If not, you guys would all love it. We went for the first time today. Even the kids had lots of fun.
Sorry the girls are sick. I do hope they feel better soon! It is hard on everyone when little ones are sick. :(
I'm very excited about you guys going to Oakes Farm! I think you'd all have fun, esp since you enjoy hayrides. I do want to mention, since I think it sounded misleading when I reread my post this evening, that not all the kids activities were totally free. I did not mean to be misleading, but my wording was funny. The hay bale maze, bounce house, sand box, and corn kernel box were totally free. The face painting was $5 and the spin art was $2. The hayride was included in the price of buying the $6 pumpkin, which I thought was a pretty good deal! Just wanted to give you the rest of the details since you are interested in going. Also, they serve hotdogs for $1 and hamburgers for $2, so we ate lunch out there! :)
